Bus Advertising has become one of the most commonly used transit advertising methods in India, as more companies look to maximize their advertising budgets. Exterior bus marketing helps gather attention for their advertisements from by-passers, while interior advertising keeps the audiences engaged. Even though bus branding company markets the brand to customers in a straightforward to understanding manner, they do face some challenges along the way.
Some of the challenges faced during bus advertising
Limited Reach in Specific Areas
When brands promote bus advertisements in urban areas, they can gain a lot of exposure. However, sub-urban regions hardly ever have any transport and it makes it hard to advertise in these areas. This means that brands cannot use this advertisement medium to target potential audiences in suburban locations.
Creativity Limitations
The biggest challenge of bus advertising is to convey the brand message within the fewest possible words and images. This deprives advertisements of having to write detailed ad copies on the bus.
Change in Bus route
An unpredictable challenge with public transit is that buses may not follow the same route for longer periods; they choose different routes to reduce wear and tear and also for any emergency, in that case, the potential audience won’t come across the transit ads of the company.
No Target Audience
Bus Advertising focuses mainly on a diverse audience they cannot target a specified one. For instance, display ads cannot be for a particular age group of people because the audience is diverse and belong to different age categories.
Lack of Exposure at Night
Bus Advertisements may not be as visible as it is in the day during the night and also compared to billboards which are lit up during the night, bus ads may not be to everyone, making it challenging to gain attention from the audience.
Vandalism
Unlike other forms of OOH advertising, bus banner ads are more susceptible to vandalism. For instance, there may be times when the bus goes under maintenance or in case of accidents or there may even be people who destroy the displays.
